Institute of Leadership & Management (ILM) Qualifications
ILM is the UK's leading awarding body for management and leadership education, offering the widest and most flexible range of qualifications available. As an ILM centre, The Centre for Business deliver flexible, practically - focused endorsed workshops and qualifications, covering a unique and broad range of disciplines.
All of our ILM qualifications are mapped against National Occupational Standards and range from Level 2 to Level 4 in various topics designed to address the needs of our learners. These can be designed as bespoke qualifications for businesses or individuals can take part in our various open courses running throughout the year.
There are no formal entry requirements but participants will normally be practising or aspiring Team Leaders, First Line Managers or Middle Managers (dependant on the ILM level chosen for study) with the opportunity to meet the assessment demands, and have a background that will enable them to benefit from the programme.

ILM Qualifications to choose from include:
- ILM Level 2 Award in Personal Development - This qualification aims to allow practising and potential team leaders to develop knowledge and skills that will assist their personal development and allow them to become more effective in the workplace.
- ILM Level 2 Award in Customer Awareness - Customers are the life blood of any organisation. They are people who buy goods and services. Fulfilling customer requirements is all about meeting customer expectations by delivering goods or services in a timely manner. This qualification will develop knowledge and skills that will enable them to have a greater customer awareness and knowledge of customer requirements.
- ILM Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading - Effective Team Leaders understand their roles, functions and responsibilities; and the limits of their authority and accountability. The Level 2 Certificate in Team Leading aims to give practising or potential team leaders the foundation for their formal development in this role. The qualification does this by developing a wide range of team leading skills and assisting participants in gaining the comprehensive knowledge required by a team leader.
- ILM Level 3 Award in First Line Management - This introductory qualification that has been specifically designed to give practicing or aspiring first-line Managers a solid foundation in their formal development as a Manager. Delegates can also continue their study with the ILM Level 4 in Management and the fully funded NVQ in Management.
- ILM Level 3 Certificate in Workplace Coaching and Mentoring - Practising and potential team leaders and first line managers will gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to perform effectively as workplace coaches as part of their normal work role.
- ILM Level 4 Award in Management - Designed to give practising or aspiring middle managers a solid foundation for their formal development as a Manager. Delegates can continue their study with the fully funded NVQ’S in Management.
- ILM Level 4 Award in Managing Equality and Diversity in an Organisation - The qualification aims to develop a practising or potential manager’s ability to understand the nature and origins of personal values, beliefs, attitudes and prejudices, and the impact that this can have on workplace behaviour. Participants will also gain an understanding of their own role and responsibility in the valuing and managing diversity.
